Part 1: Those who bring the Rain Empty Part 1: Those who bring the Rain

Post by Admin Tue 10 Dec - 18:56

One morning, the Young Lioness woke up in surprise. Her father had pounced right next to her, snapping his jaws in front of her face. He did not attack again until she was ready, but he was in a battle stance. She had either done something terribly wrong, or he had chosen her to help defend the pride like he had the other male.

Seing her father so close first thing in the morning woke her up allright, and she was on all four quickly, hesitating between a submissive stance and a defensive one.

Her fater did not give her much time to think. He roared once, a short loud roar, to make sure she was fully awake and he charged with one strong paw to the nose. He wasn't giving it his all, she might be able to dodge this one, if she can manage to move at all.

He did not seem angry, or displeased. Which, of course, didn't mean what was going to happen next would hurt any less.

The young lioness barely dodged her father's attack, but she was still confused, and now terribly affraid. Letting out a pitiful, scared cry manifesting her confusion and her fear, she tried to back away from her father as fast and safely as she could.

Her father was both pleased and displeased at her display of fear. He lazily slashed in her general direction to probe her reactions more than anything else. She was clearly made of better stock than this and he knew it. He had seen it when she was against them. Those who bring the rain...

He roared at her sharply. Hoping to shock her into a position to fight back. Oblivious to the psychological trauma he had inflicted upon her all of her days of all of her life.

The lioness stayed defensive. The days she had lived until now had taught her to fear and flee her father's claws rather than to take the offensive, and she usually didn't respond to the males she met by attacking them unless she got hurt, in which case she didn't have any choice left.

The lioness was still there, completely dumbfounded, and stayed there for a while, fearing that her father might come back. Eventually, she went and joined the rest of her pride.

Life in the pride was significantly better these days, but there was some tension now. Her father had been cranky since he left her. On the distance, she could hear the loud and fierce sounds of a battle between the two males. It sounded like training, but, with a touch of frustration.

The young lioness had two distinct trait. First, she was dead scared of her father, all circumstances included. Second, she was curious, and so she went in the general direction of the fight, to see the two males fight.

The fight was impressive. Her father never knew the meaning of hesitation and he gave all he had at every openings he saw. Being mindful not to actually break anything was difficult, but necessary.

The other male, on the other hand was both fierce and playful. Hanger and hatred of his father who had never treated him with anything but scorn fueled each of his strikes, but he was also bonding for the first time with another male. That left him confused more than he knew how to process. As an animal, however, he did not have a lot of emotional leeway or solutions. So he did had animals do, he lunged into it with both feet without a single care to consequences or psychological trauma. The resulting combination was almost undiluted brutality. She could see, however, that the younger male was becoming more and more confident as he got better at fighting.

The two fighters continued until the Werelion decided it was enough. Both warriors found a spot of shade to rest as well. Not a moment after her father had closed his eyes, lightning shot across the skies. They were both back on their feet instantly.

A storm was coming. Somehow, the Simba knew. This was the one he had been expecting.

Reflexively, the young lioness cowered in face of lightning. The presence of the two males, however, reassured her somehow, and she decided to stay put, near them, so that she would not be alone to go back to the pride.

Her father did not wait, he ran back towards the rest of the pride. He took a moment to make sure everyone was alright. Children were brought back to their mothers as fast as he could without hurting them too much. When everyone was accounted for, he darted straight to the best vantage point in the area to stand watch.

From there, he could see it. The storm. Taunting him. Trying to impress him; to dominate him. But every crack of lightning was met with a resounding hateful roar. He would not yield.

Seeing that her father joined the pride, the young lioness did the same, as much in a hurry as he was. Once he was done securing his pride, however, his behavior once again puzzled his daughter, for he wasn't usually so defiant of the storms. Herself still afraid, she nonetheless stayed in sight of her father, anxious to see what would come next.

After an hour, the storm made way to rain. All over the pride, lions were drenched and cold. With the cold hard rain came... death. She felt it as soon as she saw them. Dozens of shape-shifting hyenas were on the way, coming in from the same direction the storm had.

From a good distance away, the regrouped and divided into packs. One of them took the war form, the Chrinos and circled around the group, yelling something to them which seemed get them in the mood to pick a murderous fight. When they noticed her father who stood there defiantly and roared his outrage with all of his soul, the Chrinos pointed towards him and together as one they yelled back their righteous fury. Many were clad in weapons and armor as she had seen humans do a few times before. She knew it made them far more dangerous, not that it really mattered whenever her father took the matter in his hands. Here, however, against the mighty wrath of the Hyenas, it may well spell her father's death if sheer numbers were not enough.

With a final scream, they all took their preferred forms for battle and charged towards he pride.

The pride as a whole was under attack, and had to react quickly. Having no cubs of her own, the young lioness was free to join the males into battle, which she did, never staying far away from her father.

Ajaba, the rainbringers, the Were-hyenas. In the downpour, they too rained into the panicking pride like a sea of claws. Killing adults and cubs on a whim, while they accomplished their holy duty as determined by great mother Gaïa. Culling the weak. But there was a prideful anger in this slaughter. While some remained true to the cause by killing only those who would weaken the Simba line; others were seeking vengeance and killing anyone in sight.

Her father took the Chatro form before darting straight up to the front of the battle, in one impossible bound, where he promptly beheaded an Ajaba with one ferocious bite. The body remained upright for several seconds as if refusing to believe the swiftness of its meaningless death. Immediately, three other Hyenas took the opportunity to gang up on the Simba. Two in Chrinos, with armor and weapons and one in Chatro. They were using the spears to distract and disorient the Lion born were-cat while the Chatro waited to exploit any openings. They had done this before, they knew how to handle lions.

The other male was confused at first, but then joined the fray, trying to reach his father, but unable to do so. He fought giving it everything he could. The Ajabas fought him off, testing him, and then struck him down with the dull side of a blade three times. Making him angrier with each hit before he finally lost conscience on the fourth one.

Her mother had somehow managed to tear open a Chrinos Ajaba's neck. That which should have been a fatal wound was already healing and the angry Hyena was turning its attention to the lioness that had managed to sneak up to him so efficiently in the melee.

The Young Lioness attempted to catch up with her father but his supernatural leap destroyed those plans. She found herself with three other lionesses who were slowly being surrounded. Amongst those were the young cub she had been playing with several weeks ago, the one her father had severely beaten, and her mother. Driven insane since the day of her confrontation with the pride's alpha male, she hissed and snarled with a maddened growl at the five were-hyenas closing-in. She visibly had no intention to yield. She would die protecting her child. The last lioness was afraid and confused, but prepared to stand with her sister and nieces.

The young lioness looked the hyenas, smelled their stench and felt their rage, and was afraid. But more than being afraid, she was surrounded, and her instinct kicked in. She waited for the first breach she could see in her enemies' defences and leaped, aiming straight at the throat.

The first Hyena to open itself up was in the Chrinos form. The Armor covering the chest was confusing, but it did not matter for her mind was already set to target the exposed throat. She lunged in a leap fueled by fear and survival instinct, but learned in great surprise that the opening had been a ruse. The strong warrior in front of her had expected that and caught in mid air with its free hand - the other one was holding a spear. The Lionesse had never been chocked nor strangled before for nothing in the natural world should be able to hold a lion single-handed by the throat. She could no longer breathe, something she was utterly unfamiliar with, and found herself threatened by pure panic.

As panic took over her, her only answer was to try and claw her way out of the hyena's grasp. The lioness had never found herself in such a situation, but she instinctively knew that she should not stay there, and so, she rampaged as best as she could.

She struggled to breathe, struggled to live, as the rain kept pouring. Cold and ruthless as nature itself. The Lion was far beyond caring that she was drenched in mud and blood. All that mattered was the dimming light and the colored spots blurring her vision.

Brutally the savannah itself seemed as if it swirled around as she was used as a blunt weapon to fend off some lions she had no means to identify in this predicament. The pressure from her throat transferred to her neck, which threatened to break, but it gave her time to breathe in a gulp of air and rain. As her senses slowly returned to normal, she realized she now stood on the ground although she had no recollection of how that came to be. At a glance, the Ajaba had seemingly been forced to drop her in order to take down the Mad Mother Lioness. Her terrified cub, ignored in the middle of the battlefield, was in a very real danger of being crushed underfoot. The last lioness that had formed her group was likely the only thing keeping her and the cub alive, and that would only last a few seconds now.

The cub's mother lay motionless on her sides. The falling water washing her gaping wounds and exposing torn flesh. She was breathing until the Crinos plunged its spear into its brain. At this time, however, the Crinos seemed exposed, she could flank it.

Of her others threat, the remaining four Ajabas, one had grabbed the cub and was dragging it away, one was gone, and two were attempting to hold down the lioness that had held her ground next to the Young Lioness and the Mad Mother.

The Young Lioness had to choose between attacking the distracted Crinos, attempting to save the cub or free the other female.
